Our New Look Newsletter

As part of our recent brand evolution, I felt that our newsletter needed some care and attention. I wanted to create a regular update that was an exciting and inspiring conversation starter, not just the usual humdrum newsletter of man-wearing-product-with-promo.

Around The Cutting Table is a chance for me to share articles, ideas, conversations and images that have inspired me recently – not just from the tailoring world but spanning across areas of art & design, business, food & drink and everything else in between.

 

Since discovering Monocle’s podcast The Entrepreneurs, I’ve been an avid listener and try to fit in at least one a week (usually whilst out walking the hound). Recently I’ve been enjoying this interview with Rapha CEO Simon Morttram. The brand’s philosophy is firmly rooted in using cycling as a way of improving lives, more than just great imagery and slick products.

 

With the triumphant win for Les Bleus and everyone’s new-found Croatian citizenship already feeling like a distant memory, it feels like the perfect time to share a set of images that have always inspired me.

Train station architecture is a subject I frequently visit for inspiration and this series from photographer David Burdeny ticks all the aesthetic boxes; symmetry, opulence and grandeur.

My tipple of choice this summer has got to be the Negroni. Refreshingly bitter, the ice cold Italian cocktail transports you to summer sailing in Como or barefoot walks through orangeries.

Recipe:

  • 50ml Gin – preferably with heavy citrus notes
  • 50ml Campari
  • 50ml Vermouth Rosso

Stir ingredients together over ice in an Old Fashioned glass, garnish with orange peel and a spritz of Bergamot.

The perfect Negroni should be paired with local charcuterie and friends to a soundtrack of laid back Chet Baker sax.
